The CHC Team
The principal members of the CHC team are its six Directors, each formerly a senior manager and engineering specialist with TransGrid, the NSW Transmission Network Service Provider.
Their expertise is diverse and complementary. Together they cover a broad range of the technologies and disciplines relevant to electric power engineering and the regulatory and market arrangements of the Australian Electricity Supply Industry.
In addition CHC is able to call on other experts in specialist technical and managerial fields from outside the organisation to augment the capabilities of its own team as required.
The Directors are:
John Hoore
John Hoore is a foundation Director of CHC Associates Pty Ltd. During his varied career, John contributed to System Planning, System Operations, Substation Design, High Voltage Protection, Construction and Maintenance activities. His last position with TransGrid was Manager/Design Services. With CHC he worked for extended periods in China as the Team Leader for an ADB funded project involving the construction of a 500kV transmission line and associated substations. Other recent assignments have included assistance with the valuation TransGrid’s transmission assets.
Bryce Corderoy
Bryce Corderoy is a foundation Director of CHC Associates Pty Ltd. He has an extensive background in the management of transmission activities and technologies. He held senior management positions in TransGrid and its antecedents. His industry experience includes asset management, plant procurement, project development and management, strategic planning and general oversight of engineering activities at an executive level. These roles were complemented by involvement in industry organisations, particularly CIGRE where he held a number of national and international positions. His activities with CHC included a major involvement in setting up The Australian Power Institute, investigation into the introduction of a new transformer technology, reviewing industry revenue reset proposals and the development of training courses.
Warwick Grainger
Warwick Grainger joined CHC Associates as Director in 2000. He previously held a number of senior and executive positions in Pacific Power and TransGrid including those of General Manager/Market Development, Manager/Network Development and Manager/Project Services. With CHC he has had contract assignments associated with the development of electricity markets and transmission access arrangements. He has also managed the testing phase of major interconnectors between regions in the national market on behalf of the Inter-regional Planning Committee. He has provided specialist engineering advice to the AER in respect of its transmission revenue regulation responsibilities.
Chris FitzGerald
Chris FitzGerald joined CHC Associates as a director in 2010. Chris has had over 40 year’s professional experience working in the electricity supply industry in Australia and internationally. He has held a number of senior executive and senior project management roles in that time. Chris was a member of the TransGrid Executive Team from 1999 until 2010. He was principally responsible for the delivery of the significant TransGrid major capital works program during this time. Chris was Chairman of the Australian Technical Committee of CIGRE and a member of the Board of CIGRE Australia from 2003 to 2009.
He has also managed a number of technical consultancies associated with major electrical infrastructure projects in Vietnam and China.
Dr. Ashok Manglick
Ashok Manglick joined CHC Associates as Director in 2013. He previously held a number of senior technical and management positions in Pacific Power and TransGrid including Group Manager/Network Support & Consultations and Group Manager/Strategic Projects. Since leaving TransGrid in 2012, he has provided advice and consulting services to the World Bank on energy sector reform strategy and roadmap for Pacific Island Countries and to ElectraNet SA on developing a non-network solutions framework including policy, procedure, network support contract and survey of international experience in demand management. He assisted TransGrid in preparing its transmission annual planning report for 2013. He also provided advice to Hitachi on the battery storage and network support market in Australia.
Recently, he was appointed a Member of the Industry Advisory Panel of CSIRO’s $13 million Future Grid Cluster project.
Ashok is a Fellow of Institution of Engineers Australia, Member of IEEE, USA and an Invited Expert Member of the CIGRE C1 International Committee on System Development & Economics.
Steven Jones
Steven Jones joined CHC Associates as a director in 2016. He has over 35 years’ professional experience working in the electricity supply industry. He previously held senior management positions at TransGrid in the areas of capital project delivery and design, including the delivery and design of substations, transmission lines, cables, control and protection systems, and telecommunications. His experience also extends to high voltage equipment, asset management and implementing new strategies.
